Chew Magna Baptist Church is led by John Miles 

 

John has been at Chew Magna since March 2014. He is married to Sarah and they have one son, Anthony aged 9.

 

Before coming to the Chew Valley they lived in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, where John was pastor for 8 years. He trained for Baptist ministry at Bristol Baptist College, and during his time there, John did a placement at Chew Magna, never expecting that he might return one day as their first full-time pastor!

 

Prior to that John worked in London as a project manager for a multi-national engineering contractor which ran large water and waste water projects in the UK and overseas.

 

John says:

 

“I first came to know Jesus as a teenager through a Christian youth group in Sheffield. Since then Jesus has had his hand upon my life guiding and leading me on a journey with many twists and turns. As in most lives there have been ups and downs, and I am just as flawed as the next person, but Jesus gives me an inner strength which enables me to do things I never thought I could.”

 

“We’re thrilled to be here in the Chew Valley, sure that God has called us here. My hope for CMBC is that together we might become more like Jesus, and hence be a real blessing to the communities in which we live and move.
